Reporter

FULLY AUTOMATED REPORT GENERATION AND DELIVERY

TAKE YOUR PRODUCTIVITY TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL!

If you are already running Network Detective assessments on a regular basis for some or all of your clients, you're going to really appreciate this easy to use, low-cost appliance add-on. And if you are not already running regularly scheduled reports, you should be!

Not only does Reporter automate the generation of any Network Detective report, it can also automatically deliver the reports via email to anyone on your distribution list. It’s like having a skilled admin on staff dedicated to creating reports for you and your clients but at a fraction of what it would cost you to pay someone to do it. At just $29 per month (less if you pre-pay for one year), you can afford to spin up a Reporter for each of your clients!

Reporter seamlessly runs scheduled scans and then fully automates the generation of your branded reports. Simply download and install the Reporter software appliance on a Hyper-V enabled system at your client’s site or plug-and-play one of our pre-configured Reporter small form factor servers into your client’s network and either way you’re up-and-running in minutes.

To order Reporter, risk free, use the Upgrade button from within the Network Detective application or contact your account rep for more details. If you do not know your account rep simply email sales at sales@rapidfiretools.com.

No Need To Dispatch A Tech To Do An Assessment

Each Reporter appliance is centrally controlled from inside your Network Detective application. Once you attach it to a client’s network and turn it on, you’ll be able to easily configure it remotely, setting up the scans you want to run, their frequency, and which reports to generate from among the ones you subscribe to.

There’s no more need to send a technician on site to collect the data, which saves you money. No more manual downloading of the scan data either, and no need to go through the manual report generation process for each assessment, saving you even more time.

And since there’s no limit to the number of scans and reports, you can do more assessments for your clients, more frequently. That means more incremental change reports, more frequent security scans, and more updated reports whenever you need them.

Works Great As A Physical Appliance or Virtual Machine

Reporter is purchased as a software appliance that can be installed on your own Hyper-V enabled system. The low monthly subscription cost for Reporter is the same whether you download and install it on a physical server you already own or upload it to a server already connected to your client’s network.

Don’t have a spare server with the right specs? For an additional monthly charge, you can add a small form factor server to your subscription and get the Reporter software appliances pre-installed and ready to plug ‘n play. We fully support the hardware and will repair or replace it, if needed, forever!

HOW TO ORDER

The Reporter software appliance is an add-on to any other Network Detective subscription you have. If you’re an existing customer, log into your Network Detective application and click on the Upgrade button in the top right side of the main screen. New customers should follow the same procedure after purchasing your first module(s) and installing the Network Detective application. A Reporter software appliance subscription is just $29/month. Pre-pay your Reporter subscription for one year for $290. That’s like getting two months for free!

Reporter is a software appliance that can be downloaded and installed by you on your own physical or virtual server, or ordered pre-installed on a small form factor server directly from us. No matter how you choose to deploy it, Reporter works the same way.

Step 1. Identify Your Reporter Inside Network Detective.

Each Reporter you install has its own unique ID. Simply associate the Reporter with the appropriate Client Site inside Network Detective, and you’re ready to schedule your scans and reports for that client. There’s no practical limit to the number of different Reporters you manage through your Network Detective application, so it makes sense to have a separate Reporter for each one of your customers. Each Reporter has its own rules that you customize for your individual clients.

Step 2. Schedule Your Scans.

You can remotely configure each Reporter once it is installed and connected to the client network. You can schedule your scan to run at any time interval you choose (such as daily, weekly, etc.) and also set the time of day you want your scans to run. You can run the scans for any module which you subscribe to (except the Exchange Assessment module), and even schedule different types of network scans to run at different intervals. For example, you may decide you want to run the security assessment scan daily, the network assessment scan weekly, and the external vulnerability scan monthly.

Step 3. Pick The Reports You Want To Automatically Generate

Once you determine the frequency of the scans, you then have the option to determine which of the reports you want Reporter to automatically generate. Again, you have complete flexibility to create a fresh set of complete reports with each scan, or just generate selective reports that you want to regularly review internally or with your clients. All of the automatically-generated reports will be saved directly to the Reporter appliance, but you also can specify whether you want the reports to be emailed to you as an attachment, as a link, or uploaded into your existing Network Detective report storage.

Let’s face it, the real value of Network Detective is in the powerful, informative and compelling branded reports that you can generate. So why limit the frequency of the various scans that can discover new issues and security risks?

With Reporter, you can set up the appliance once for a given client, and the scans will run automatically –- and your selected reports generated automatically -- based on the schedule you determine. You can even remotely run scans and reports on an ad-hoc basis without having to go on-site.

Think of how much more value you’ll get by taking regular “snap shots” of your clients’ networks – even if you don’t run a full set of reports each time. You can also increase the frequency of your security and compliance scans – if you subscribe to those modules – for better visibility into your client’s network health and increased reporting. We recommend running weekly security reports for internal consumption as well as weekly Management Plans to keep tabs on what’s been fixed and to document new issues. We also recommend running monthly Client Risk reports to give your customers along with Quarterly Business Reviews for effective ongoing communications that let your customers see the value they’re receiving from your managed services. They’ll appreciate the attention and you will create a ton of good will.

The time you save running just one automated assessment per month will pay for this tool. Compare the bill rate of your least expensive technical resource with the low monthly cost of Reporter. That resource can be productively working on client issues while your Reporter is diligently performing your Network Detective assessments.

Is Reporter required to run Network Detective?

No, it’s not required. Reporter is an optional add-on to automate the ongoing scanning and report generation at individual customer sites.

How Do I Order Reporter?

You won’t find Reporter on the main order form on this web site, because it’s an add-on appliance designed to augment your other Network Detective modules. If you’re an existing customer, log into your Network Detective application and click on the Upgrade button in the top right order of the main screen. New customers should follow the same procedure after purchasing your first module(s) and installing the Network Detective application.

Why would we want to do ongoing report generation at client sites?

Most MSPs initially use Network Detective to offer “free” network assessments as part of a prospecting marketing campaign. Network Detective is also used as a “killer” sales tool to close new business. However, many MSPs also use Network Detective on an ongoing basis as the foundation for new, revenue-generating IT security and compliance services. Network Detective is also used to produce regular client reports to communicate the value of the services being provided, to check for new hardware/software that's been added to the network and other changes. Network Detective is licensed by annual subscription for a fixed price so why wouldn't you want to put it to use as often as possible? That’s where Reporter comes into play by totally automating the data collection and report generation, saving you time and resources.

What’s the difference between Connector and Reporter? If I have Connector already, do I need Reporter?

Connector is a great for automating the running of Network Detective scans but it can’t automate the reporting, which still requires a manual download. Connector also requires you to write your own script to be deployed at each client site. Your script would include the necessary commands to download the latest version of the scanner you want to use, run the executable at the specified time, save the resulting data file, and then upload it to our temporary Cloud Storage facility. Once there, you would need to download the scan data into your Network Detective application and manually select each report you want each time, and generate those reports. Reporter is a complete software appliance. There is no scripting involved in setting up the schedule (it’s all handled through the Network Detective UI), and the entire process is fully automated – from scanning to report generation.

What’s the difference in pricing between Reporter and Connector?

While the Connector subscription is $250 per year and can be used for all your clients, it requires more work on your part and is only a partial solution to automating the scanning and reporting. Reporter at just $29 / month (or $290/year, pre-paid) is designed to be permanently attached to a single client’s network, and does the entire job. Connector requires the use of an external scripting engine (not supplied). Reporter is self-contained and designed to be plug ‘n play. All you need is a physical or virtual server.

What if I want to use Reporter to run a Network scan or generate a report from a module that I don’t currently have?

Only the Network Detective scans and reports from modules that you have active subscriptions for will be available in your Reporters. However, as soon as you subscribe to new modules, the scans and reports associated with those subscriptions can be immediately scheduled with Reporter.

If I cancel my subscription, what happens to the actual scans and Reports I generated with Reporter?

As long as you have downloaded the past scans or reports from the Reporter you are cancelling, you’ll continue to have full access to them.

If I purchase a server from you, can I return it? And if so, who pays for return shipping?

Yes, you can return a server you purchased from us, providing that you notify us within 30 days of purchase and obtain an RMA. You’ll pay for the return shipping, and receive a refund of the purchase price after we inspect and test the device to ensure that it has not been damaged.
